DESCRIPTION:
Frederick Heisely, Sen., Harrisburg, PA., 8 days, time and strike, weight brass movement half column & splat shelf clock, c1830. Movement made by Heisely that he fitted to a Jeromes and Darrow case with his label overpasted on the Connecticut label.
CONDITION:
Refinished mahogany veneered case with some minor loss on the base. Painted wood dial looks to be original, but is cracked across the center with horizontal crazing of the paint, a heavy layer of varnish on both sides and the two stretchers replaced. Hands, bottom tablet and stenciling on the columns are original. The mirror is period, but is most likely a replacement. Bone escutcheon on the door is missing. Nice label inside the case. Has unique movement designed by Heisley. Label notes "Warranted by C. Eaton". Cyrus Eaton was a clock dealer/peddler. Ht 40"
